Sam Sherbin

Hi Friends, I want you to meet my friend and talented Mix Engineer Sam Sherbin. He has a career thats growing in the industry and has learned from Bruce Swedien and Manny Marroquin. This is a must read for anyone in the industry.

Name: Sam Sherbin

Location: New York City

What do you do? Mixing Engineer

What are you currently listening to? The Weeknd’s Starboy album.

Where do you want to go with your career?

I intend to go as far as possible with my career. I’ve been working professionally for seven years. I’ve studied under Bruce Swedien who recorded and mixed Michael Jackson’s Thriller, the best selling album of all time (Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Paul McCartney) and attended a Mix With The Masters masterclass with Manny Marroquin (Kanye West, John Mayer, Rihanna, The Weeknd) in 2013. At this point with my manager, we are pushing the levels of services higher for my clientele. I think in this time, quality gets lost of little bit. I want my clients to have a positive learning experience as well.

Work you are proud of?

I'm proud of working with incredible artists. I mixed and mastered a single for Ronaissance which debuted on Mad Decent's Jeffree imprint. I mix a majority of songs from Andy Studer. He is a great multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California. My discography spans from Hip Hop, R&B, indie pop, Latin rap and indie rock. I love working on new projects. A lot more records to come out soon. You can find them on my website samsherbin.com/music

Advice for life and music:

Sam Sherbin

You have to be prepared and consistent. There will be a lot of difficult situations in music and with people, in general. You have to be able to see the good in everything. “Oh Pro Tools just crashed in front of a client” Now you can use that small downtime to discuss the music project even further. It’s a bad day or bad moment. Not even those last forever. I know people who dwell the negative aspects to much and the frustration of the creative process. You have to step back, take a break then reanalyze what’s working from what isn’t. Put all your energy on your strengths, double down on that! This is music, just have fun and be passionate. Without passion, you can’t move forward. It has to be intrinsic motivation because you want to get better.
